The Society of Northumberland Lady Golf Club Captains

SNLGCC

The SNLGCC was founded in 1969 to bring together past and present captains of clubs in the County of Northumberland also those who have captained the County and the County Veterans. Members of Northumberland clubs are also welcome if they have been a past golf club captain outside of the County.

There are annual matches against Durham and the Borders and a match versus Harrogate every other year. Clubs are asked to provide two players for these matches on a rota.

In the summer there are the Captains’ Greensomes for any member to play in usually at the President’s home club. The Society also produces newsletters throughout the year distributed to the Society’s Club Representatives to display on the notice board.

Subscriptions are due on 1st February. £3 for a playing member and £1 for a non -playing member. However subscriptions are accepted later in the year due to Clubs having their AGMs at different times. New members are very welcome and they should contact the Secretary if the wish any further information.

SNLGCC v Borders 2026

SNLGCC v Borders 2026

The first match of the 2026 season was played at Morpeth Golf Club, home of President, Anne Calder.

The Borders were represented by ladies from as far away as Minto and Eyemouth. They complimented us on the warm welcome received and our great organisation. This was pleasing to hear as lots of us are new to our positions.

Ladies from Bamburgh, Foxton, Matfen, Stocksfield, Tynemouth, Hexham, Morpeth and Ponteland were proud to represent Northumberland and wear our new team tops.

Matches were played in excellent spirit, on a very well presented course which was as challenging as usual.

Effie’s Bash, the fond name of the fixture, was convincingly won by the Borders 3 - 8 . They retain the Salver and Northumberland keep the Collie Dog.
