Max at the double

Max Gilsenan has been a regular player in the Cheshire squads for a few years with a good record of success.
Max, 15, has a current handicap of 0.4 and is a member of Chorlton and Westhoughton Golf Clubs and attends Westhoughton High School.
Max was delighted to be crowned the Men’s Chorlton Club Champion for 2026- the youngest-ever winner at Chorlton.
He played the Chorlton championship over three rounds including a play-off and shot 71, 76 and 69 to take the trophy.
In the previous week Max won the Westhoughton Club Championship for the second successive year and again was the youngest-ever winner.
The competition was a 36-hole qualifier with the top eight going into a match-play scenario and he won the final by 4/3.
Max has been a regular playing for Cheshire Junior Boys teams with his most recent match being for the u16’s against Yorkshire at Houldsworth GC.
His golfing ambition is to continue to represent Cheshire, turn professional and one day play in the Open Championship.
His golfing idol is Rory McIlroy and he would like to give thanks to his parents and family, his coach Dave Mackinnon and Cheshire County for selecting him for coaching amd matches since the age of ten.
